LAKSHADWEEP ISLANDS - INDIA
 |
Lakshadweep is
a cluster of islands, situated off the coast of Kerala. Sunkissed
beaches of endless silver sands and picture perfect coconut
groves make it a wonderful tropical beach.
As of now the best resort for foreigners
with good water sport facilities is the Bangaram island resort.
Although there is another one as Agatti island , is very medium
range. |
| Access is by
flight from Cochin or Goa into Agatti and from there the Bangaram
resort operates a motor boat to transfer clients to the resort.
If clients require, we can book and issue the internal air
tickets for them but to do this would require their passport
details in full in advance. This is a small aircraft so best
if tickets are confirmed in advance. There is also a luggage
restriction of 10kgs per person. |
|
The Lakshadweep islands (or Laccadives as they
were formerly known) are a geographical extension of the Maldive
island chain. Referred to many as the "ultimate island paradise",
each island floats serenely in a sea whose water range from palest
aquamarine and turquoise to deepest sapphire and lapis lazuli. From
all the 36 islands, Bangaram is the gem. The beautiful island of
Bangaram is everything you imagine to a tropical island to be and
from the moment you set foot on the blinding, soft, white sand,
you'll be totally enraptured by the exotic natural beauty of what
can only be described as one of the most exclusive tropical islands
in the world.
Bangaram Island Resort
Is made up of 30 simple huts. All rooms are comfortably
furnished with cane furniture, twin beds, ceiling fans, stocked
fridge and private shower (cold water only). The dining hut serves
buffet meals and is normally a mixture of local and continental
cuisine with fresh fish and tropical fruits. Next door is the beach
bar open for most of the day, serving a reasonably wide range of
spirits, wine and beer.
Everything about the island is natural and simple
and has not been affected at all by the outside world.
Emphasis here being on the natural beauty and simplicity
of this is a paradise for sun worshippers, divers and snorkellers
and anyone who wants to get away from it all and have a relaxing
"no frills" holiday.
Bangaram island resort is accessible only by air,
the ship services does not touch this island.
FLIGHTS :Flights are from Goa or Cochin only and
since this is a small aircraft each person is allowed to carry luggage
weighing a maximum of 10 kgs per person.

at the time of booking. Full Name, Age, Address, Occupation &
Passport details in full.
POSEIDONE :
THE DIVE CENTRE AT BANGARAM ISLAND : The
dive centre at Bangaram is the only one in Lakshadweep, hence it's
our sole responsibility to leave the abundance of marine life undisturbed.
Feeding of fish has never been practised here, hence all sea creatures
still behave in their natural way. Please help us to maintain it.
Do not attempt to ride turtles and manta rays. The dive centre caters
to beginners and for experienced divers. Two boat dives a day in
different locations, of which only a few are mentioned below.
Shallow Point : A dive to a maximum of 15m with
exposure to the sandy coral environment, the likelihood to see sand
eels, leopard murray eels, lion fish, sting rays and white tip sharks.
Manta Point : The reef with impressive coral structures
descends slowly to 20m. Manta rays can be seen throughout the year,
but more likely during September to December and in April-May. Whale
sharks are also sighted here. More common are turtles, nurse sharks
and napoleons.
Thinnakara Hill : A submerged hill seperated from
the main reef with stronger currents provides a totally different
experience at depths of 25m. It is usual to see big schools of jacks,
eagle rays and hump heads, the biggest in Parrotfish family.
Princess Royal Wreck : A dive to the remains of
a 200 year old galleon, only discovered by us. Also at home to the
magical swinging fish.
Grand Canyon : The dive between two vertical walls
rise from the unknown depths of the ocean, only 6m apart from each
other. Dense with precious black corals offers a great panoramic
view. You are welcome to find out yourself the difference of diving
in lakshadweep from some of the world famous diving spots.
