Sri Lankas Hill
capital 488 meteres above sea level a most beautiful city,
home to where the sacred Tooth relic of the Buddha is enshrined,
in sinhala word kande meaning hill. The city is most visited
place next to Colombo. During 16th century Kandy is one of
the powerful kingdom among Sitawaka and Kotte Kingdom. |

the Tooth is held the month of July and August every year. The cultural
pageant accompanied by costumed dancers, drummers and more than
hundreds of elephants participate two week long glittering nights

to Buddhism, the devotees pay homage to Hindu God and Goddess In

In 1867 First commercial planting of tea and open
first railway line to Kandy. The Kandy is home to many handy craft
all with traditional and unique crafting a wood; silver, copper,
brass, ebony and bronze also lacquer work, handlooms and Jewellary.
Most of the country farmers grow vegetables and rice in slops. The
many varieties of fruit available the Avocado, Durian and Jackfruit
are sweet and delicious. Attraction: Temple of the Tooth, Udawatta
kele Sanctuary, and the man made Kandy Lake, Victoria Dam, and Victoria
Golf Link at Digana. Peradeniya Botanical Garden, Tea museum. Kandy

NUWARAELIYA :
The foothills of highest mountain Pidurautalagala
(2524 meters) Nuwaraeliya is 1400 above sea level is most famous
for its tea plantation. Earlier Dutch East India Co introduced the
Coffee and blighted the plantation but changed to tea in the 1860
by British administration.

The Royal Golf course (19
hole) and surrounded villas and the bungalows are rich in
Georgian Architecture and well-groomed parks and lawns creating
an English countryside. Horton plain the peak wilderness is
about 29 km away. Vicinity of Nuwaraeliya is home to many
and famous tea estates and factories. Hakgala Botanical garden
is well known for roses established in 1860. |

Farmers grow up country vegetables and potatoes
in the slopes in mild weather condition. Attraction: Sita Amman
Kovil and beautiful waterfalls a Lovers Leap at Glassaugh. Distance
from Colombo via Hatton Dickoya. 180 km/from Arugam bay 187 km.

The city of
Gems. Most precious and valuable stones can found in the paddy
fields and many of them are busy in this lucrative trade.
Tea and Rubber grows in low country weather climate. Most
of the paddy fields and low lands are dig and make pits to
search for gems. There is a Gemological Museum and Gem Bureau
to know about stones and can visit gem-mining locations. You
can buy one and own a ruby, sapphire or moonstone a precious
one or semiprecious such as beryl, zircon, garnet and quarts
from Ratnapura. The Adams Peak is close to Ratnapura. The
January to April is the season to pilgrims to the peak. The
peak is holy place to all religion and their belief. Distance
