ANURADAPURA :

A city of culture, religious and unmatched architecture will give a clear picture about Sri Lanka and its prosperous past. The city developed around 500 BC under King Pandukabaya and 161 BC King Dutugemunu united the country and ruled from Anuradapura as Islands capital.

POLONNARUWA :

The medieval capital south east of Anuradapura initially a military base for south Indian invaders for about 75 years after the fall of Anuradapura. King Vijayabahu I defeated Chola and ruled from Polonnaruwa and develop not only the city but irrigation work and Buddhism as well.

Grand Monarch Parakramabahu build the Parakrama Samudra covers 2430 hectares with monumental fear of irrigation engineering. In 1236 AD city was destructed due to Kalinga a South Indian invasion. Still can observe the monuments, Stupas, dagabas and monasteries the architecture and culture blended with South Indian influence.

SIGIRIYA :

The heritage site declared by UNESCO. The 800 meters boulder home to King Kasyapa during 477-495 AD. The famous frescos the art of Sigiriya paintings of feminine beauty. A Sri Lanka's oldest graffiti was written (7th and 8 century) on the mirror wall and these poems are written in Sanskrit and Brahman script and old sinhala and Tamil script also on this wall.

The summit of the rock about one hectare a home of the old palace and unbelievable irrigation system a water gardens to its former glory. The fortress citadel surrounded by moat, rampart a well-arranged workmanship of the era. DAMBULLA:

The city is famous for Rock cave temple home to Buddha images and ceilings are painted with intricate patterns of religious images of murals some of its frescos said to be oldest painting in Sri Lanka. There is a colossal figure of the recumbent Buddha carved out of the rock is 14 meters long. Situated South of Sigiriya. Distance from Sigiriya 24 km.
